Club Fitting: Swing Weight Swing Weight is commonly interpreted as the relative measurement of the balance of the golf club from the tip of the grip to the bottom of the sole, at a point (fulcrum) which is 12-14 inches from the grip end of the club depending on the scale being used. Swing Weight affects the feel and playability of a club. If the swing weight is too light a golfer might: 1. Take club back quickly 2. Have little sense of rhythm and balance 3. Hit fat and thin shots, and have no discernible pattern If the swing weight is too heavy a golfer might: 1. Have steep backswing with a tendency to collapse at top 2. Loose club control 3. Have a predisposition to hit the ball fat
