Club Fitting: Bend-Point

Bend-point, or flex-point, is the point at which the shaft bends or deflects during the swing. Bend-point is responsible for the trajectory and launch angle of the golf ball’s flight. Generally, the lower the BP the higher the flight and vise-versa for a high BP. It should also be noted that the rotational axis and flex-point of the shaft should be in the same spot. In other words, the shaft should flex at the same point all around the circumference of the shaft. An inequity here could result in a different frequency each time the club is swung. A computerized frequency analyzer can determine this. Check with a local club fitter if you want to take it this far.
